Governor Anatoly Artamonov Meets Volvo Top ManagersProduction Placement Application
Governor Anatoly Artamonov had a business breakfast with top managers of Volvo Group, Sweden, in Kaluga on October 24, 2019.
Volvo delegation headed by Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO, paid a business visit to Kaluga.
In the course of the meeting Stephan Kechler, a new director of Volvo plant in Kaluga, manufacturing trucks and truck cabs, was introduced to the Governor. Stephan Kechler is an experienced professional who has been engaged in operations of Volvo Group and other companies from various industries for many years. The list of his core competences includes production management, maintenance and engineering.
Anatoly Artamonov wished all the success to the new Volvo plant director in his professional activities. He also pointed out that Kaluga Region Government is interested in investors’ business high efficiency, and is ready to create all necessary conditions to make their business successful.
In the course of negotiations the parties discussed various aspects of Volvo Kaluga plant operations, including the implementation of a special investment contract concluded this year and the plant’s production plans. Anatoly Artamonov made a proposal to Volvo management to pay particular attention to production of municipal equipment undercarriages and trucks at Kaluga plant as such equipment is required for efficient street cleaning both in Kaluga region and in other regions of Russia, as well as for implementation of large scale projects associated with construction of residential buildings and social infrastructure.
Volvo Group top managers in their turn expressed interest in support for academic activities of Kaluga students of technical education institutions and arrangement of apprenticeships for them.
In the course of its visit to Kaluga the delegation also held meetings with suppliers of truck components and Volvo partners, including Mercator Group, a manufacturer of municipal and road construction equipment. Cooperation between Volvo Trucks and Mercator Group has been developing successfully for many years.
