On November 27, 2018 Gary Koren, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Israel to Russia, accompanied by a delegation visited Kaluga Region. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with industrial and investment potential of the region, to discuss promising lines of cooperation.

The program included a visit to Vorsino Industrial Park, a visit to the Administrative and Business Center of Kaluga Special Economic Zone, where investment potential of the region was presented to the guests, and where a meeting with Anatoly D. Artamonov, Governor of Kaluga Region was held. Prospects of cooperation in the field of agriculture, healthcare, education and culture were discussed during the meeting between the Governor and the Israeli delegation.

During the meeting Mr. Gary Koren noted that our countries had many areas of common interest:

- It is a fact that trust-based relations between heads of our states influenced general situation in Russian-Israeli climate. Today the climate is really warm and very favorable. Russia remains for us a very promising market in terms of tourism, agriculture and healthcare. Israel has a lot of advanced technologies. I believe that we have good prospects for work not only in Moscow. We would like to work more intensively with Russian regions, including Kaluga Region. We visited your region for the first time, this is a familiarization visit. And we were not disappointed by this first acquaintance; it gave us a very good impression. I understand, how much interesting your region is in terms of economic development, this is why I am glad that I am accompanied by our delegation. We have a lot of Russian-speaking businessmen, who are ready for cooperation in agricultural sector, in medical technologies.  Additionally, we wish and we can develop cultural relations, to promote joint educational projects. We have experience of cooperation with MGIMO University; similar projects may be launched with Kaluga University. There is a very active Jewish community in Kaluga; I believe that we have a lot of work in these areas.

Anatoly Artamonov expressed interest in cooperation with Israeli business, especially highlighting importance of joint projects in agricultural sector:

 - We are very much willing to develop cooperation with Israel in all areas. Before, we had experience of cooperation only in agricultural sector.  I would like to resume it with great pleasure. I am specialist in agriculture, and I can say with confidence that Israel has the most advanced expertize in this area. You have a lot of developments, both in irrigation and in dairy farming.  A great Euromoloko Farm was built here in Maloyaroslavets using Israeli technology. Despite the difference in climate, you technologies are ideally suitable for us. We will provide the best terms for organization of this business. We will be also able to cooperate in healthcare sector; there is traditionally great interest for Israeli medicine. The city of Kaluga is growing, we are building now almost a new city on the right bank; a clinic may be built there. So, we will provide the most sound assistance and support for your projects.

Earlier that day, Gary Koren had a meeting with representatives of Kaluga Jewish Community. The religious community was officially registered in 1999.
