Production Placement Application

On May 29, 2019 representatives of Nestle Purina PetCare and the Government of Kaluga Region spoke of sustainable development achievements at Nestle Purina PetCare  pet food production facility located in Vorsino industrial park within the framework of a press tour. The event named Taking Care of the Future was dedicated to commissioning of a new water treatment plant at the production facility. The company invested RUR 578 million in its construction. The list of subjects covered at the event was a presentation of a report on the second stage of Purina and Community social initiative and a presentation of Nestle Purina PetCare projects aimed at environment impact mitigation.

Under the current conditions of saturated consumer goods market, more and more attention is paid by the government and society to  environmental stability issues.  Business community plays a vital role in minimizing negative environmental impact, that is why recognition of responsibility for economic and environmental aspects on behalf of businesses is of great importance.  Taking the afore-said into consideration Nestle Purina PetCare combined its efforts with the Government of Kaluga Region to organize Taking Care of the Future press tour to its plant. Martial Rolland, CEO, Nestle, Russia/Eurasia, Georgio Vesprini, Regional Director, Nestle Purina PetCare, Russia, CIS, Ukraine, Turkey and Israel,  Alexey Nikitenko, Deputy Governor of Kaluga Region, and Andre Anri, the head of Nestle Russia OOO branch in Vorsino industrial park, Kaluga Region, delivered speeches at the event.

Modern high-tech equipment was presented to the attendees of the new water treatment facility commissioning official ceremony. The plant is capable of treating up to 1,300   m3 of waste water per day. It ensures full cycle treatment of industrial effluents and removes all types of impurities, namely, mechanical, biological and chemical. The plant will treat both process effluents and waste water from the plant production areas, gathered after scrubbing and condensate removing from evaporators. The equipment of the plant meets the most stringent criteria set for water treatment facilities in Russia and abroad.

Martial Rolland, CEO, Nestle, Russia/Eurasia, said: “Nestle’s aim is to promote higher living standards for individuals, families, local communities and the planet in general. Our global objective provides for minimization of industrial impact on the environment by 2030. Every day we work hart to attain this objective.  The commissioning of the new water treatment plant at our facility in Vorsino industrial park is just another step towards implementation of our sustainable development  plans”.

The new treatment facilities’ construction is not the only Nestle Purina PetCare project aimed at environment impact mitigation.   For instance, in 2017 the plant reached zero waste level, i.e. no waste is transferred to landfills, as it is processed at the plant. Apart from that, the plant also implements programs aimed at rational use of power and water, as well as projects providing for reduction of packaging materials’ use, including plastics.

Alexei Nikitenko, Deputy Governor of Kaluga Region, noted: “Kaluga Region Government implements a large number of environmental programs, it also develops legal, regulatory and economic framework to ensure transfer to sustainable development, promotes introduction of green technologies at Kaluga Region plants. I’m pleased to mention the fact that Vorsino industrial park hosts hi-tech production facilities, like Nestle Purina PetCare, paying much attention to environmental issues. They have attained excellent results in this area and set benchmarks for other Vorsino residents in the field of nature protection”.

Georgio Vesprini, Regional Director, Nestle Purina PetCare, Russia, CIS, Ukraine, Turkey and Israel in his turn, mentioned that Russia was one of the most dynamically developing pet food markets. He said: “Today Russia is among Top3 PURINA markets in Europe, together with the UK and France. We believe this country has excellent potential for further growth as the industrially manufactured pet food consumption level is rather low as compared to European markets,    Russia has one of the largest pet populations  (23.4 million cats and 16.5 million dogs according to Euromonitor as of May 2018), and deep love to pets in Russia. Apart from commercial activities PURINA makes contribution to solving acute social problems, it creates common values for pet lovers and community. Today I am pleased to present a report on the second stage of European Purina and Community social initiative. It includes information on achievements of PURINA key  social responsibility programs implemented in 40 countries, including Russia”.
